For Cabaret I constructed and set up:
The framing for the second story of the set, alongside raising the platforms to act as the floor. The framing walls are simple stud walls.
The framing for the four portals. The construction of the four portals were in the style of Broadway Flats, skinned with Lauan. The portal in the back had additional false brick facing that was glued and stapled.
The full sized False Proscenium was cut out of 3/4” plywood, with each hole for lights cut out with a paddle bit, and were spaced 1’ apart. After being put up, Lauan was glued and stapled onto the plywood to give it depth.
The small False Proscenium was cut out of 3/4” plywood with a jigsaw, and screwed into the wall.
The four light posts were constructed out of 3/4” plywood for a box base. Then the metal posts were cut with a portable ban saw.
The railings were secured to the floor with lag screws, then attached to the light posts with angle irons.
